Gospel Songs for Fingerstyle Guitar: When the Roll Is Called up Yonder

As with any piece using the alternating-thumb approach, the key is simply to get your picking-hand thumb going and play a melody over it with your fingers. The tricky thing about this particular arrangement of "When the Roll is Called up Yonder" is that you can’t get away with doing the melody in straight quarter notes. This lesson will be great practice for learning how to not have your fingers be slaves to quarter notes.
