Marcelino Barbero classical guitar, made in Japan, no serial number. Spruce top with laminated rosewood back and sides. 655.5 mm-scale, 55 mm-wide at nut. Classical guitar made in Japan with label reading “Constructor de Guitarras Marcelino Barbero, Exclusivas Distributores, Antigua Casa de Sherry-Brener, Ltd., 1882 Madrid 1969” with “69” handwritten on the label. This one-owner guitar since 1973 has a high saddle and a slightly warped neck. Chipboard case. Good condition. Est. $1,000–$2,000

A house-brand for Chicago shop Sherry-Brener, this guitar was made in Japan and features the sturdy construction typical of the era’s factory-made classical guitars. With some setup work from a luthier, this would be a good guitar for an advancing student.
