1960 Miguel Rodriguez, ex-Parkening

Miguel Rodriguez flamenco model, Made in Cordoba, Spain, 1960, no serial number. Flamenco guitar with spruce top and Spanish cypress back and sides, with two clear golpeadors installed on top. 656 mm-scale neck with 51 mm-wide nut and ebony fretboard. This extremely lightweight flamenco guitar has been well cared for and exhibits a beautiful patina with one well-repaired top crack running from bridge to end block, and a few marks on the neck, likely from a capo. Documentation of 1967 purchase from Christopher Parkening, with later verification email from Parkening. Period correct hardshell case, likely original. Excellent condition. Est. $15,000–$17,000

This flamenco blanca was made by one of Spain’s most celebrated 20th-century guitar makers. Rodriguez was especially renowned for his flamenco guitars and this example is in excellent condition, with a patina befitting its 62 years. It’s an exceptionally lightweight and brilliantly responsive instrument with a quick attack that excels for flamenco-style playing. The added provenance from Parkening makes this a special instrument.
