Scottish Songs for Guitar: Hughie The Grahame
In 1560, it seems, the Bishop of Carlisle seduced the wife of Hugh Graham, a chief of the Scottish border. Graham then stole the Bishop’s favorite horse, was caught by the delightfully named Warden Scrope, was tried, and was executed, though not before delivering some threatening and/or snarky last words, depending on your version. Learn to play this tune in a nice, rolling 7/4, embellished with notes that linger and take their sweet time to resolve.
