Ovation Adamas CVT
This Ovation Adamas CVT Custom 2000 is from Acoustic Guitar magazine's 10th Anniversary Collection.
This distinctive instrument has a woven carbon fiber top—two layers of carbon with a poplar wood core—that is only .032 inches thick, or about a quarter of the thickness of an average wood top. Carbon fibers are like the fibers in spruce—very strong in tension and bending—and they behave very much like spruce in the Adamas top, but they will never warp or absorb moisture.
This Adamas CVT also features a five-piece mahogany, maple, and ebony fingerboard; gloss black peghead with gold Adamas logo; 24K gold machines; an Ovation Thinline pickup; and Optima electronics with an onboard chromatic tuner to optimize your sound in any venue.
The innovative, lightweight design gives this instrument superb tonal balance ideal for fingerpicking and alternate tunings.

The folks at Ovation, the company that pioneered the use of composite materials in acoustic guitar construction, also sent us an instrument that reflects their unique contribution to the world of guitars. The modified version of the latest Adamas CVT features a smooth top made of two woven layers of carbon fiber sandwiched around an ultrathin poplar core. The guitar sports Ovation’s distinctive roundback and multiple sound hole arrangement as well as the company’s own thinline pickup and Optima preamp. Although it is thus ready for stage use, even acoustic purists will enjoy the guitar’s cool brasslike bass response, sustain, and volume.
