But exploring alternate tunings automatically inspires you to play the guitar in a different way and can introduce you to sounds you might not discover in standard tuning. Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsey Buckingham, for instance, used the most basic of alternate tunings in the iconic song “Never Going Back Again” to generate forward momentum with the guitar.
