For a welcome change of texture, in the second section (bars 21–32), play the melody with your thumb on the lower strings while adding light chordal flourishes on the upper strings. Be sure to play the melody notes more loudly than the chords. Lightly brush the chords that fall on the beats downwards with your middle finger, and use your index finger for those on the ands of beats. Or, if you’d like, eliminate some or all of the chords—make it your own and have fun with it.
